Paulina Turauskaitė | Losses: sight, sound, space

The purpose of the visual sound installation is to convey the experience of the blind in a space that includes sensory loss. The echolocation principle is used to proceed from one object to another. In this way, the exposition, which consists of five parts, is experienced visually and by sound. Each of them actualizes such losses as sight – to capture sound interaction and connection with the image, stability – the state of orientation in the environment and the sense of space. The third one deals with the intangible image and its loss – focusing on a volumetric object. The fourth piece distorts a clear image and highlights visual flaws. The installation is finished with an immersive object that exposes the loss of a secure environment. This element suggests that even in complete darkness, there is light. Additionally, the exhibit can be experienced through sound imaging.
