Arkadij Gotesman – drums
(Modern, creative)
Jan Maksimowicz – an outstanding example of Lithuania’s mid-generation jazz musicians. His rich sound, broad technical capabilities, and strikingly unexpected musical phrasing set him apart from other saxophonists. When combined with his vast experience in improvisational music, the result is astonishing – expressive, even theatrical, and profoundly deep and soulful playing that opens the hearts, minds, and souls of listeners.
For the past few decades, Jan has been an active leader of several ensembles and has also performed as a guest musician with the most renowned artists in the country. He is well-known and loved by Jazz Cellar 11 audiences, particularly from concerts dedicated to John Coltrane. His collaborations include Tim Daisy, Vein Trio, the National Symphony Orchestra, and many others.
For this special concert, Jan will be joined on stage by his longtime partners, Lithuania’s jazz masters – double bassist Eugenijus Kanevičius and drummer Arkadijus Gotesmanas. These musicians likely need no introduction, as they are among the most active figures on the country’s jazz scene, having performed with nearly every Lithuanian jazz and improvisational music artist.
This concert promises a wealth of emotions, top-tier performance quality, and, of course, the true spirit of jazz.
