Slower: Conversations about Art

We are proud to announce our third series of mindful conversations about art in 2025. Everyone can join: we welcome first time visitors as well as hard-core museum fans!

You can find us every first Saturday of the month at 4 p.m in the lobby of the NGA. After a brief introduction we gather in front of a single artwork and start discussing it in depth with the whole group. Per session we select two artworks for two in-depth discussions.

The conversations are facilitated in English by Karen Vanhercke – art historian and freelance educator – and in Lithuanian – by Eglė Nedzinskaitė, curator of educational programs at the National Gallery of Art. Participants are encouraged to speak in either language – whichever they feel most comfortable with.

The method for facilitation is based on the theory of the Visual Thinking Strategies, which was developed for the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in New York. Our aim is to make art experiences more accessible and enjoyable for people from all the walks of life.

Participation is possible by purchasing a gallery ticket.

The series of events is financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
