The Language of Music: A Universal Celebration of Art and Tradition
The language of music is unique and extraordinary — it is understood by all, across the world. To preserve and continue its traditions, for the third consecutive year, the City Hall of Vilnius will open its doors in April for the Vilnius City Hall Music Festival (VRMF) — this year bearing the prestigious title Čiurlioniada.
Each of the five festival concerts will carry its own energy and theme, all connected by a common thread of Čiurlionian inspiration. It will be a true celebration of music, dance, poetry, and art — a true feast of the arts! This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of the renowned Lithuanian artist and composer M.K. Čiurlionis. It is an opportunity to speak louder, to play more, and to spread the word about the remarkable works of this iconic artist.
The festival will also pay tribute to M.K. Čiurlionis’ contemporaries, including the French composer Maurice Ravel and the Austrian violinist Fritz Kreisler. The concerts will feature classical works from Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Poland, and Italy, alongside modern compositions from distant countries such as Turkey, Argentina, and New Zealand.
Like the air essential to human life, M.K. Čiurlionis’ music will resonate at every concert, touching the ears and soul of the audience. When discussing Čiurlionis, one cannot forget Druskininkai, often referred to as Čiurlionis’ city, especially as this year it carries the honor of being Lithuania’s Capital of Culture.
We look forward to welcoming you!
